U-Haul is developing U-Haul Moving & Storage of Deep Creek Lake, a 980-unit retail, moving and self storage facility in Oakland, Maryland.

The center is slated for completion in January 2026. U-Haul acquired the property on Oct. 22.

The future four-story development will cover a 2.5-acre site and will feature climate- and non-climate-controlled options, as well as truck and trailer sharing, professional hitch installation, towing accessories, a retail showroom and a drive-in load/unload area.

The development will be at the intersection between Garrett Highway and Glendale Road. The closest U-Haul full-service facility is more than 50 miles away. The company currently operates and manages 44 other self storage properties in Maryland.

This week, U-Haul opened a 344-unit self storage property in Biloxi, Miss. The Biloxi and Oakland facilities offer the same features and amenities, with the exception of the former’s 100 percent climate-controlled units.
