Porterville Storage Expands: Provides Self, Boat, RV Storage in Porterville, California

Self Storage Units in Porterville, CA - Best Storage Facility

Porterville Storage has opened the doors to its brand-new facility, bringing with it not only expanded storage options but also a customer-first philosophy that it says sets it apart in the industry.

Now located at 310 W. Gibbons Ave, the new property offers more space, upgraded amenities. For Gerri Perez, Marie Affoon and their team, storage is more than just a business, it’s about helping people at important moments in their lives.

Most of the time, when people need storage, it’s not because they want it, it’s because they have to,” said Affoon. “It might be a new home, a tough transition, or sometimes even a difficult season. That’s why it’s important to greet everyone with respect, a smile, and a sense of comfort.”

The new site reflects that mission. Visitors are welcomed with coffee, water, popcorn, and even ice cream, a far cry from the impersonal feel often associated with storage facilities. Customers also receive complimentary bags of ice and, when moving from the old Porterville Storage location to the new one, were even given the option of professional movers to transfer their belongings at no extra cost. That attention to detail helped the majority of their tenants successfully make the transition to the new site.

Beyond service, the facility itself offers features rarely seen in the industry. A free wash bay is available to all tenants, whether they rent a small unit or the largest RV space. The property also boasts fully enclosed boat and RV storage, with 30-, 40-, and 45-foot units that include wide drive aisles for easy parking. Demand has already filled every one of the 45-foot spaces.

Inside, the climate controlled units remain one of the company’s most popular offerings. With 358 units in the newest building alone, many tenants choose them for the protection they provide against Porterville’s summer heat. To make the experience more enjoyable, the facility even features a full speaker system for background music, a $21,000 investment made simply to make tenants feel more at home while tending to their storage needs.

Owner Wade Elliott has been credited with listening closely to tenant feedback and making improvements based on their needs. From the wash bay to climate control and even music, many of the amenities at the new site began at customer suggestions. “It just shows that Wade cares and is willing to go above and beyond to make this more than just storage,” Affoon explained.

The company also has its sights set on future growth. With plenty of land available, Porterville Storage is planning a “Phase Two” expansion in the coming years once the new facility is fully established.

To celebrate, Porterville Storage is inviting the community to a grand opening event on September 26. The day will feature tacos, drinks, a DJ, shaded seating, and interactive tours of the property. Guests will visit six different stations across the facility, collecting trinkets along the way. Those who complete the tour will receive a key and a chance to unlock one of three prize-filled storage units.

Staff members are optimistic about a strong turnout, with city officials, chamber members, tenants, and community members expected to attend. “We want people to leave with the same smile they came in with,” Affoon said.
