A family-owned storage business is spending more than £500,000 to grow its Poole facility by a third as demand continues to spiral.
Store & Secure, which opened in Hamworthy four years ago, is to add hundreds more units to meet a growing need for space from both domestic and business customers.
The business is run by sisters Lucy and Sophie Maidman, who have named its Poole base Joyce House after their late mother.
Lucy Maidman said: “We opened four years ago and the 40,000 sq ft included hundreds of storage units of varying sizes as well as serviced offices.
“We are in the fortunate position of requiring more units and have been able to secure permission to increase the facility by around 30%.
“Already the new units, which will be at the back of the facility, are being allocated.”
The company caters for domestic and commercial clients and has online retailers who store stock at the facility.
Maidman added: “We take in deliveries for them and it enables them to have a second income – it’s a trend that began during the pandemic.”
Store & Secure was founded in 2010 in Bournemouth by Brian Maidman, who 30 years earlier had founded Maidman Removals.
The business opened a second storage facility in Basingstoke in 2016.
