Space Station has opened its 19th UK site in Stafford, converting the former Bull Hill Electricity Works, a local landmark dating to 1895, into a self-storage facility spanning more than 55,000 sq ft. The opening extends the operator’s portfolio, which covers London, Birmingham, Berkshire, Shropshire and Northamptonshire, and points to continued demand for storage space in the West Midlands. Commenting on wider market trends, a real estate partner at Charles Russell Speechlys cited urban density and smaller rented living spaces as key demand drivers, alongside growing interest from smaller businesses.
Self-storage was described as a resilient asset class, with scope for regionally focused investment strategies.
