Wakefield-based Caddick Construction has been appointed principal contractor for a new Big Yellow Self Storage facility on Scotswood Road in Newcastle, the operator’s second site in the city. The four-storey building will provide around 60,000 sq ft of internal storage space, along with loading bays, offices and staff facilities, and will incorporate solar panels and battery storage, with completion targeted for next summer and BREEAM ‘Very Good’ certification sought.
The project adds to Caddick’s expanding North East portfolio, following its Durham office opening in 2025, and reflects Big Yellow’s continued growth, with 114 sites now operating across England, Scotland and Wales.
