\nA new storage facility has opened a new base complete with an art installation on its gates.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Big Yellow Self Storage opened its 105th store in Hove over the weekend.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Alongside flexible storage and office spaces, Big Yellow Hove has commissioned the latest public art installation for the area\u2019s art and design scene. <\/span><\/span>The installation, created by Brighton-based artist Kerry Lemon, is a partnership between Big Yellow Self Storage and a local artist creating a public art contribution for the new store. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

It comes after Kerry won the competition launched by Big Yellow among local artists in the area. <\/span><\/span>Kerry was inspired by the concept of storage and by local Grey Squirrels, which are known for collecting, packing, and storing their food outside their homes. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Kerry said: \u201cThe artwork at the new store is a nod to commonly-sighted, local wildlife, Grey Squirrels. <\/em><\/span><\/span>\u201cDelicately hand-drawn and laser-cut from steel, the yellow squirrels look almost lifelike as they can be seen \u2018running\u2019 up and down the railings of the Hove store.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

The new store welcomes domestic and business customers looking for either short or long-term storage space. <\/span><\/span>The units are available to rent for just one week, and boast a variety of sizes; from 9sq ft to 400sq ft.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Each room has its own Pin access code, and the site is monitored by 24\/7 security to keep customer belongings safe and secure.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Located at 270A Old Shoreham Road, Hove, BN3 7EG, Big Yellow Self Storage says it aims to help local people and businesses bring more space into their lives.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

For local people and businesses, it also has 11 new office spaces available to rent by the month, which include both internet access and phone lines.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

With sustainability in mind, the store has been fitted with a range of environmentally friendly features. <\/span><\/span>When it comes to electricity generation, the store has been fitted with solar panels on its roof to generate renewable energy on-site. <\/span><\/span>Alongside this, a garden has been added to the back of the store with bird boxes, bat boxes and insect hotels to encourage visits from local wildlife. <\/span><\/span>The store\u2019s interior is fitted with motion sensor LED lighting and low-flow taps to reduce water consumption.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Big Yellow also has a store in Coombe Road, just off Lewes Road, Brighton.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
