\nA Self-storage company is set to move into a closed-down supermarket building in Slough.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Owners of Slough Trading Estate SEGRO confirmed on July 7 that Big Yellow storage will be taking over the former Sainsbury\u2019s site on Farnham Road.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

And supermarket chain Aldi also announced it will be moving into the current Pets at Home building in spring 2023. <\/span><\/span>The pet shop will then be taking over the former Staples store next door.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In a statement to the Observer last week, a spokesperson for SEGRO said: \u201cWe have been in discussions with Aldi, Pets at Home, and Big Yellow, and we are delighted that all three businesses have committed to opening new stores on Farnham Road, Slough Trading Estate. <\/em><\/span><\/span>\u201cThis investment will bring two vacant sites back into use with new, modern amenities for the local community.<\/em>\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The news didn\u2019t go down too well with our readers with one person saying it will be an \u2018eyesore\u2019 in the town.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

And some added they were hoping it would have been shops such as Morrisons, Home Bargains, Tesco, or Marks and Spencer.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Naima Ibrahim said: \u201cI was really hoping for Home Bargains. I guess I have to keep on travelling to High Wycombe and Hounslow for that.<\/em>\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Sunny Singh added: \u201cThere\u2019s already a bunch of storage places towards the Vauxhall dealership. Open a Tesco or Marks and Spencer if we can\u2019t have Sainsbury\u2019s<\/em>. <\/span><\/span>\u201cNo idea why that even closed considering how busy it always was<\/em>.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Others explained it will be a \u2018waste of space\u2019 in Slough and could have been used for a bowling alley or amusements.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Tracey Graham said: \u201cWhat a joke I thought there was already one of them near the centre by the bridge. We need something decent down there<\/em>.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

SEGRO are yet to confirm when exactly Big Yellow will officially be moving into the site.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
