Last year Twenty4 Secure Storage, which operates a large self-storage site in Leeds, submitted a planning application for a similar site in Bradford, on Factory Street, off Tong Street.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The development would have seen numerous shipping containers installed on the site for self-storage purposes, as well as a section of land used as open storage.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The site was once home to Ackroyd\u2019s Mill, which was demolished after being damaged in a huge blaze in 2011.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Highways officers raised concerns about the plans, and the application was withdrawn.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Now the company has submitted amended plans for a \u201csecure self-storage facility and open B8 storage including reception\/office”.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The new application says 10 shipping containers would initially be based at the site, and argues that a redesign of the plans should overcome any highway concerns that were previously raised.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

It adds: \u201cThe development of the site will make effective use of Brownfield Land which is currently underutilised and derelict.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe application seeks to provide an additional employment facility within Bradford which would aid the economic development of the city and provide an ancillary facility for local businesses and residents.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
