Big Yellow Self Storage Company has lodged plans for a new facility in Leicester. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The business has brought forward proposals for Belgrave Gate. The site currently accommodates a rectangular building which operates as a car workshop and MOT servicing centre. The first and second-floor elements of the structure comprise multiple different uses, including an office, a light industrial space and a Karate Hall.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The northern element of the site comprises The Bridle Lane Tavern Public House and the associated garden area and car park.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Lined up is the demolition of existing buildings and the construction of a five-storey self-storage facility. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In total, the scheme would provide up to 89,485 sq ft GIA across the five floors.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

A design and access statement said the “project aims are led by current market demand and a well established, long-term business development strategy that intends to provide a storage facility on a key site in Leicester”. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

It added: “The repurposing of the site would encourage an increase in activity, employment and utilisation of this outer-city location.”<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
