A disused car park near the centre of Caernarfon could become a shipping container storage facility. The proposal is for a patch of land on St Helen’s Road, near the terminus for the Welsh Highland Railway and not far from Caernarfon castle.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Watkin Property Ventures have applied to change the use of the site next to Afon Seiont to a storage facility. It would be run by Lock Stock Storage, who are based in Denbigh, and house shipping containers that businesses or individuals could hire for storage.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n An application has been submitted to planners at Cyngor Gwynedd.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Watkin Property Ventures said: “The proposed development aims to transform the existing vacant land into a state-of-the-art self storage facility operated by Lock Stock Storage. The development will provide much-needed storage solutions for local businesses and the community.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n “Similar projects in other areas have led to a rise in small, start-up businesses while giving existing businesses the extra storage space needed to expand. This contributes to greater economic diversity and growth within the local economy.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n “Lock Stock\u2019s commitment to security, eco-friendliness, and community integration makes this project a valuable addition to Caernarfon, contributing positively to both the local economy and residents’ needs while maintaining sensitivity to the surrounding heritage and landscape.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n “We respectfully request that Gwynedd Council grants planning permission for this development, which will contribute to the continued growth and prosperity of Caernarfon.”<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n The containers will vary in size, including 20ft & 10ft containers.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Lock Stock have 30 operational sites across North Wales and Cheshire, with 4,000 containers for hire. An average of 60% of containers are rented by people moving house or keeping treasured possessions, and up to 40% used by small businesses.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
