#222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Lato, Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">SRA Ventures Limited, of Edinburgh, have applied for a change of use for the building on Mar Place \u2013 empty for more than three years \u2013 which they want to convert into self-storage units.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Lato, Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">It sits just to the north of the Mars Hill roundabout and was put up for sale last September for offers over \u00a3330,000.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Lato, Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">A statement on behalf of SRA explained: &#8220;Following alterations, the proposed facility would comprise 80 internal storage rooms ranging from 25 square feet to 200 square feet and an additional five external storage units within the existing outbuildings.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Lato, Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">&#8220;These units will cater to a range of customer storage needs.&#8221;<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Lato, Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">The old police station has been empty since October 2021 when the force relocated to the council headquarters at Kilncraigs.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Lato, Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">The two-storey building has a reception area, office accommodation, restrooms and welfare facilities. <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Lato, Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">On the site, there&#8217;s also a multi-car garage, parking spaces and an area of hardstanding.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Lato, Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">The planning statement continued: &#8220;The facility will operate on an unmanned basis, employing downloadable mobile apps, digital locks and automated entry systems to allow customers to access their units securely, without the need for staff to be present or for physical keys.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Lato, Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">&#8220;Customers must book a unit online before receiving access. <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Lato, Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">&#8220;However, a member of staff would visit the facility to inspect and report on any potential issues. <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Lato, Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">&#8220;Maintenance staff will be available to contact during operating hours and cleaning staff will service the facility regularly.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Lato, Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">&#8220;For safety and security, motion sensors and smoke detectors will be installed in each unit to detect unauthorised access and fire hazards. <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Lato, Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">&#8220;A CCTV system which can be operated remotely will provide 24\/7 surveillance and remote access can be granted to maintenance and cleaning staff as required.&#8221;<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Lato, Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">The proposed works include installing a lift shaft and a new goods lift.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Lato, Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Clacks Council have been advised that the self-storage development would utilise the existing building and avoid the need for demolition.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Lato, Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">The statement concluded: &#8220;The former Alloa Police Station has a unique layout that presents limited options for redevelopment for many commercial uses. <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Lato, Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">&#8220;The proposal is uniquely positioned to utilise this layout with
