Image: Google Street View<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Lato, Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">A plan to convert a former Stirling food bank premises into 55 self-storage units has been approved.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Lato, Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Stirling Community Food closed its doors at 5 Wellgreen Lane in December 2024, after more than four years of working to reduce food waste by offering excess items to the local community for free.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Lato, Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">In April, a planning application to turn the building into managed storage units was submitted, and Stirling Council gave the plan the go-ahead this week.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Lato, Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">According to the local authority\u2019s report of handling, the storage spaces are likely to be used by private individuals \u201cfor domestic purposes\u201d, due to the small sizes of the units planned.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><img class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/wpcluster.dctdigital.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2025\/07\/Stirling-storage-space-plan-1l6w0aiql.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Lato, Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">The business will be permitted to operate between the hours of 7am and 11pm, Monday to Saturday, and 9am to 9pm on Sundays.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Lato, Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">The proposed designs show storage units of various sizes spread across two floors, as well as a lift and toilets.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Lato, Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">The building\u2019s exterior will remain the same, with no changes required.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Lato, Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Parking could pose an issue<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Lato, Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">No objections were raised regarding the application.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Lato, Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Stirling Council officers wrote: \u201cThe proposal is not considered to impact the character or interest of the Conservation Area, and is compatible with the existing uses along Wellgreen Lane.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Lato, Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">However, there seems to be some concern over where customers might park when accessing their storage spaces.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Lato, Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">There will be no dedicated parking for the facility.
