Vanguard Self Storage has received planning permission to convert a vacant office in Maidenhead into a new branch \u2013 its tenth in England.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The 50,000 sq ft office building on Norreys Drive will be converted into a 660-unit self-storage facility offering 40,000 sq ft of net lettable space across three floors.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In line with Vanguard’s other premises, the Maidenhead store is set to feature a historical centrepiece as a focal point for the site.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

A de Havilland Vampire aircraft, currently being restored, will be displayed in the triple-height atrium \u2013 the second in Vanguard’s collection following the first installed at the Bath branch, which opened earlier this year.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The site will also provide indoor loading bays, two 3.5-tonne Kone lifts and 24\/7 CCTV monitoring, as well as sustainable features including a 100 kWp rooftop solar PV system, energy-efficient lighting and EV charging points.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The refurbishment is expected to take six months and could support more than 100 jobs in related businesses based on data from Vanguard’s Bristol store.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Will McCullagh, managing director of London-based Vanguard, said: “Maidenhead is a natural next step for us.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“It’s a rapidly growing, affluent town that has benefited from the introduction of the Elizabeth Line, improving connectivity to London and the surrounding region.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
