{"id":2752,"date":"2025-10-06T14:54:16","date_gmt":"2025-10-06T14:54:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/listselfstorage.com\/uk\/industry-insights\/?p=2752"},"modified":"2026-03-12T14:41:06","modified_gmt":"2026-03-12T14:41:06","slug":"national-property-firm-expands-its-self-storage-pipeline-in-north-bristol-england","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/listselfstorage.com\/uk\/industry-insights\/national-property-firm-expands-its-self-storage-pipeline-in-north-bristol-england\/","title":{"rendered":"National Property Firm Expands its Self-Storage Pipeline in North Bristol [England]"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!-- VideographyWP Plugin Message: Automatic video embedding prevented by plugin options. --><br \/>\n<img class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thebusinessdesk.com\/_files\/images\/oct_25\/Bristol-self-storage-min-500x332.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Lato, Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">A national property firm has expanded its pipeline of self-storage units with the acquisition of a site in the South West.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Lato, Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">London-headquartered Martin\u2019s Properties has bought the freehold interest in the one-acre North Bristol site from a UK fund.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Lato, Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">The move builds on the firm\u2019s presence in the self-storage market, which it has identified as a strong growth sector with strong fundamentals.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Lato, Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">It says growth in the sector has been accelerated by consumer trends, such as home working, upsizing and downsizing, and space creation.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Lato, Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">With modern house sizes reducing and a need for local businesses along side, there is an increasing demand for easily accessible self storage. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Lato, Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">The acquisition of Nicholson House on Lime Kiln Close, Filton, comes as Martin\u2019s Properties continues to create and fund its new self-storage business, which is acquiring sites, securing planning, developing and operating new purpose-built facilities across the South West and South.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Lato, Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Martin\u2019s Properties plans to redevelop the site, which includes a vacant 15,444 sq ft office building, to provide a new self-storage facility to serve the surrounding area.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Lato, Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">In addition, the family-owned firm is looking for a number of new, one to two-acre sites in the South West and South \u2013 with key target locations including Bath, Trowbridge, Taunton, Yeovil, Dorchester, Southampton, Aylesbury and Banbury. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Lato, Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Graham Gunn, head of operations \u2013 self storage at Martin\u2019s Properties, said: \u201cThis is an exciting new acquisition of a prominent site in a mature and expanding location with excellent transport links and passing traffic, making it a highly strategic site to provide for self-storage demand.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222;\">\u201c<span style=\"font-family: Lato, Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">We already have other sites underway, with the first site in Didcot forecast to complete in 2026.
