Planning permission has been granted for a \u00a31m second-phase development at a former police station in Alloa, bringing a self-storage facility and workplace hub to the town centre.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n SRA Ventures submitted the plans for modular Stronghold units in the site\u2019s yard. The development will be among the first of its kind in Scotland to combine digitally-locked storage with flexible workspaces.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n The submission follows on from a first planning application, which was approved in June. That initial phase aims to convert the former police station into a facility with more than 80 internal storage units across 16,000 square feet of converted space, alongside a further eight drive-up units formed from the site\u2019s outbuildings.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n SRA Ventures is now considering making the location the permanent UK headquarters for its Locked Self Storage brand.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Shaf Rasul, founder and chair of SRA Ventures, said: \u201cGrowing up in Alloa myself, I\u2019ve been determined to ensure that this major \u00a31m project and private investment genuinely benefits the town, so it\u2019s fantastic to receive planning permission for the second phase.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThe site will create local employment during construction and operation, alongside supporting small businesses and tradespeople with modern, secure storage solutions, which is noticeably lacking in the local area, while revitalising a prominent landmark site.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n \u201cMost importantly, this development is set to become our company\u2019s UK headquarters, ensuring lasting economic and community benefit to the town where I was raised and love.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
