{"id":726,"date":"2021-11-29T10:54:13","date_gmt":"2021-11-29T10:54:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/listselfstorage.com\/uk\/industry-insights\/?p=726"},"modified":"2021-11-30T13:22:51","modified_gmt":"2021-11-30T13:22:51","slug":"mccarthys-storage-world-purchases-huddersfield-site-for-5m","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/listselfstorage.com\/uk\/industry-insights\/mccarthys-storage-world-purchases-huddersfield-site-for-5m\/","title":{"rendered":"McCarthy\u2019s Storage World Purchases Huddersfield Site For \u00a35m"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!-- VideographyWP Plugin Message: Automatic video embedding prevented by plugin options. --><br \/>\n<em><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><i>A self-storage specialist has opened the doors on its fifth centre \u2013 the second it has opened since the coronavirus outbreak.<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">McCarthy\u2019s Storage World has purchased Phoenix Retail Park in Huddersfield, which is also home to furniture store DFS, as part of a \u00a35m investment.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">The firm has converted an empty retail unit into 30,000 Sq Ft of storage space, with capacity for significant expansion and suitable for both business and personal storage use.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Units range in size from 10 Sq Ft to 3,000 Sq Ft.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">An on-site shop will also sell packaging materials such as boxes and bubble wrap.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">The premises now occupied by McCarthy\u2019s Storage World had previously been let to Dixons Car Phone Warehouse, before becoming vacant.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Business at DFS will be unaffected, with the company becoming a tenant of McCarthy\u2019s.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Mike McCarthy, managing director of McCarthy\u2019s Storage World, said: <\/span><\/span><\/span><em><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">\u201cCertainly when it came to business planning, I don\u2019t think a pandemic was something any of us had in mind. Plans were well in place with our new facilities in York and Huddersfield when Covid-19 first hit, but actually we\u2019ve found demand has remained very strong.
