A rezoning request on the east side of Bronson was approved Monday night by the Bronson City Council following a public hearing.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Applicant Tyler Stritzinger wants to rezone almost seven acres of property at 150 Wayne Street from the current R-3 Multi-Family District to B-3 Community Commercial District.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n City Manager Brandon Mersman says Stritzinger wants to use the property for a commercial self-storage facility with the option for further commercial retail development in the future.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n But the Bronson Planning Commission voted 3-2 on September 14 against recommending that the zoning amendment be adopted by the Council. Stritzinger said the negative vote came about after there was confusion and miscommunication on his part.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n A member of the Planning Commission said it did not fit with the city\u2019s Master Plan. City Attorney Chuck Lillis reminded the Council they were only deciding on the zoning. Council member Larry McConn was among those voting in favor of the rezoning.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n The property is bordered by Wayne Street to the west, Dollar General Store and McDonalds to the north, multi and single-family residential to the south and west, and vacant land to the east.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n According to Mersman\u2019s memo to the Council, it\u2019s proposed a self-storage facility be constructed in a single phase which will offer an estimated 16,000 square feet of commercial storage space across two all-steel buildings.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
