A self-storage facility could open in an iconic South Main Street building in Wilkes-Barre vacated by a century-old business that has relocated its headquarters to Hanover Township.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

CAE Self-Storage LLC is seeking a variance to permit the adaptive reuse of a commercial building at 454 S. Main St. into a self-storage facility containing 600 storage units, according to an agenda for Wednesday\u2019s Wilkes-Barre Zoning Hearing Board meeting.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

CAE is also requesting a variance to waive 29 parking spaces for the proposed use.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The building is owned by Petroleum Services Company, a family-owned distributor of petroleum products, rust preventative coatings, and application equipment that was founded in 1924 and incorporated in 1930.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

With little public fanfare, PSC quietly relocated its headquarters from the iconic Wilkes-Barre building to a brand new facility in Hanover Industrial Estates sometime late last year or early this year, based on posts to its Facebook page.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Rick Rose, owner, CEO and president of PSC, did not return a message seeking comment.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Although the company moved its headquarters out of the city, several company trucks were still parked in the lot of the South Main Street building on Tuesday.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The PSC gas station that had been operating on an adjacent parcel has become a Citgo station.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
