A New Self-Storage Facility Breaks-Ground in Fort Pierce, FL

An excavator works at the planned location of a four-story self-storage facility, at 1300 S. U.S. 1, on May 29, 2025.

If you’ve been wondering what’s being built next to Aldi on U.S. 1 in Fort Pierce near Ohio Avenue, you’re not alone.

Significant groundwork has taken place in recent weeks on the property at 1300 S. U.S. 1, near the tall nets for the driving range for Indian Hills Golf Course.

It turns out the 1.38-acre lot is the future home to a four-story, climate-controlled, self-storage facility with 178 storage units and 23 parking spots, according to a site plan for the project approved by the city.

The main 106,830-square-foot storage building, with an onsite office, plans to operate from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., according to the city.

The property has been owned by TPAD Fort Pierce LLC since 2024, when it was bought for $442,300, according to the St. Lucie County Property Appraiser’s Office. TPAD Fort Pierce LCC is registered to Daniel Abreu of Miami, according to the Florida Division of Corporations.

Abreu did not respond to a request for comment on when the facility would open.
