A new self-storage facility and coffeehouse-smoothie bar will promote their businesses with two ribbon-cutting ceremonies next Wednesday.
The ribbon-cutting for Cosmic Coffehouse + Smoothie Bar will be held at 282 South Main St. at 10:30 a.m. while the ribbon cutting for Blue Rock Storage Newtown will be held at 12 Commerce Road at 1:30 p.m.
The public is invited to attend both events.
“Both of these new businesses have been opened in Newtown by a couple of dynamic entrepreneurs who recognize the desire for the particular services they offer,” said Newtown Economic and Community Development Director John Voket. “Whether it’s popping into the Cosmic Coffeehouse or their drive-thru for a bite or beverage while heading up or down South Main Street, or seeking a secure, climate controlled storage facility for one’s business or personal possessions, I know the community will welcome these newest businesses and their respective employees warmly.”
At the site of the former Patty’s Pantry restaurant, Cosmic Coffeehouse + Smoothie Bar, which opened Oct. 23, offers takeout, eat-in and drive-thru service and a menu that includes a selection of hot or iced teas, coffee drinks and other beverages as well as acai and smoothie bowls, wraps and sandwiches, breakfast fare and other bites, according to the town’s Department of Economic and Community Development.
Matt Connolly, owner of Cosmic Coffeehouse + Smoothie Bar, will host the ribbon cutting and offer coffee and smoothie samples and little sandwiches. Connolly has also invited people to download his new “Cosmic Coffeehouse” app from the App or Google Play Store to receive special in-app promotions and specials.
Meanwhile, Blue Rock Storage Newtown opened at the former TÜV Rheinland of North America headquarters, according to the Department of Economic and Community Development. The self-storage facility offers a selection of affordable storage units that come equipped with climate-controlled storage and digital video security system and other amenities. The facility’s spaces are available in 5-by-5 feet, 5-by-10 feet, 10-by-10 feet, 10-by-20 feet and 10-by-30 feet configurations.
Alan Benaim, owner of Blue Rock Storage Newtown, has pledged that all units are kept between a steady range of temperatures year-round to prevent customers’ possessions from warping, discoloration or cracking, the economic development department said.
In partnership with Supplyside, customers of Blue Rock Storage Newtown may also obtain a variety of packing supplies, materials, locks, covers and tools via an online shopping portal with free shipping on any order over $100, according to the town’s Department of Economic and Community Development.
