Diamond Point Development, LLC (DPD) has announced that on September 30, 2024, they will break ground on a new, state-of-the-art 105,405 square foot multi-story, secure, climate-controlled self-storage facility at 106 U.S. 6, in Mahopac, New York (the hamlet Mahopac is a part of the Town of Carmel). This site was the former home of Mahopac Farms, a beloved institution in the Carmel community that once supported a playhouse, a museum and a petting zoo,” explains Jason Sommer, Diamond Point Development Principal. “Mahopac Farms is at the gateway into the Town of Carmel, so we wanted to keep the character of the property intact while making it more aesthetically pleasing.” DPD worked with the Carmel Planning Board and the Carmel Building and Planning Staff to design a self-storage facility that has the characteristics of a historic barn.

This soon-to-be-constructed three-story self-storage facility includes approximately 82,000 rentable sq ft and 800 individual storage units. To make the storing experience more comfortable and to protect customers’ belongings from the elements, every unit is temperature and humidity-controlled. Upon stabilization of the initial 82,000 rentable sq ft, there is an additional 80,000 rental sq ft phase 2 planned and approved.

Over the next five years, we expect to lease more than 160,000 sq ft of climate-controlled storage space at Mahopac Farms,” explains Sommer.

The sale of the parcel was brokered by Hans Hardisty of SVN Hardisty Commercial Real Estate.
