On Monday, the Fort Wayne (Ind.) Plan Commission approved plans for a new 101,400-square-foot self-storage facility.
The City Council will make a final ruling on whether a community shopping center can be rezoned for commercial use, allowing for the development of Fort Wayne Storage. The Board of Zoning Appeals has scheduled a hearing for the project on Thursday.
One plan-commission member and some neighboring office owners oppose the project, claiming it will lower property values.
Fort Wayne Storage has three other Allen County locations. The company plans to invest more than $5 million to build the proposed complex. If approved, development will begin in late spring.
