York-based Moove In Self Storage is expanding in its home county.
Headquartered in downtown York, the company said it is preparing to open three new and expanded facilities in York County over the next year.
Moove In Self Storage, which has more than 80 locations in the Mid-Atlantic, Northeast and Midwest regions, said in a release the new York County facilities will total more than 250,000 square feet and provide 1,800 storage units for rent.
“We are thrilled to be expanding our presence in York County with these three state-of-the-art facilities,” said Tom Kilko, director of development and construction for Moove In Self Storage. “Our commitment to providing top-notch storage solutions is reflected in the significant investment in these projects. Each location has been meticulously planned and constructed to meet the growing needs of our customers, and we are excited to see these facilities come to life over the next year.”
The expansion project at 610 Chambers Road in York began in July 2023 and is expected to be complete this September, the company said.
The project at the existing Moove In Self Storage location will add a new three-story, 58,075-square-foot building with 375 climate-controlled units and eight drive-up units, in addition to the 132 existing drive-up units.
Moove In Self Storage said the main structure, exterior and building signage are complete, with office finishes and elevators underway now.
The conversion project at 3025 Carlisle Road in Dover began in October 2023 and is expected to open this December. The company said the project incorporates 41,162 square feet of a former grocery store and adds a new two-story, 58,192-square-foot building.
To date, the interior of the existing building has been demolished, while the foundation, stair tower and elevator tower of the new building are done. When it’s complete, there will be 580 climate-controlled storage units available at this 99,354-square-foot facility, the company said.
A ground-up construction at 2430 Cape Horn Road in York, which began in May 2024, will have four over/under two-story buildings totaling 100,100 square feet with 701 drive-up and climate-controlled units. Moove In Self Storage said preliminary work such as stormwater basins, site clearing, and bulk excavation are underway. This project is expected to open in April 2025.
