Michael’s Restaurant and Lounge, a staple in Falls Township for over 50 years, will be demolished to make way for a self-storage facility.

During the Falls Township Board of Supervisors meeting on Monday, the board approved plans by SAFStor Old Lincoln LLC to transform the site at 935 Old Lincoln Highway into a three-story, 109,650-square-foot mini-warehouse and self-storage building.

The restaurant, operational since 1968, and an adjacent residential structure will be razed for the new development, which includes 28 parking spaces.

The board approved preliminary and final land development to Safstor Old Lincoln LLC for the three-acre site.

Julie Von Spreckelsen, attorney for Safstor, outlined the plans at the meeting.

The area, zoned for highway commercial use, permits retail, offices, restaurants, and similar establishments.

The township’s Zoning Hearing Board had previously granted a variance on June 13.

The property also features a 1,932-square-foot home fronting Old Lincoln Highway.

Originally constructed in the 1950s as the Cypress Inn, the building later became Michael’s Restaurant and Lounge, known for its tableside cooking and signature Caesar salad.

SVN Ahia Commercial Real Estate had listed the property at $2.95 million, according to a marketing document.
