Snapbox Self Storage—a Go Store It company—has opened a 79,710-square-foot self storage facility in Owings Mills, Md. Arco Murray oversaw the design and construction of the property.
Asset Realty & Construction Group is the owner of the facility. In 2023, the property became subject to a $11.2 million construction loan originated by Municipal Employees Credit Union of Baltimore.
The four-story building comprises 776 climate-controlled units, sizes ranging from 25 to 250 square feet. The elevator-served facility features electronic building access, security lighting and 24-hour video surveillance.
The property is at 10548 Reisterstown Road, some 2 miles from Interstate 795 and 20 miles northwest of downtown Baltimore. It’s one of 11 facilities available on a 3-mile radius, offering residents 9.08 rentable square feet per capita, the same data provider shows.
There were five self storage properties under construction in Baltimore as of December, set to add 404,984 rentable square feet to the market’s inventory. Last year’s deliveries totaled 864,357 rentable square feet across eight properties.
Nationwide, December saw 3,305 self storage facilities in all stages of development, out of which 790 were under construction. Completions represented 2.9 percent of the starting inventory.
