Public Storage recently reopened its facility adjacent to offices of Apple Inc in Cupertino, CA after completing an expansion and major high-tech upgrades.
The facility at 20565 Valley Green Drive, now has two five-level buildings and grew from 51,000 square feet to 195,000 square feet. The number of units has jumped from 585 to 2,593. The facility offers contactless app-enabled digital property access and account management. The remodeled facility is now able to achieve LEED Silver status with the addition of sustainable features such as solar panels and LED lighting.
Planned:
Two new self-storage businesses are coming to Ventura Boulevard in the San Fernando Valley in California. Banner Real Estate Group, based in Greater Chicago, IL plans to build a three-story, 158,000-square-foot climate-controlled facility on a vacant parking lot. The proposal comes more than two years after property owner Kamyar Marouni had filed plans for a four-story, 149-key hotel on the site. Banner Real Estate Group is a multifamily developer that has built over 2 million square feet of self-storage facilities. The building is scheduled to go up about a mile east of another planned self-storage facility. Johnson Development Associates, a South Carolina company, is the developer for a 104,000-square-foot space at 21101 W. Ventura Blvd. in Woodland Hills, on a 2.5-acre property that currently houses a Courtyard by Marriott hotel. Johnson Development Associates wants to subdivide the property so it can build a six-story storage warehouse with 7,000 square feet of office space. Source: The Real Deal
The Deer Valley Planning Commission recommended approval of a self-storage business at the southwest corner of 35th Avenue and Paradise Lane – between Greenway and Bell roads in Phoenix, AZ – but a City Council member convinced all her colleagues to vote “no.” Councilwoman Ann O’Brien’s district includes the 1.5-acre site. She said, “This is a neighborhood I grew up in and at a time, where we are in a housing crisis, I expect that we could have opportunities for some housing here.” Source: KJZZ
