Scottish Capital Announces £25 Million Investment in Lockup [Scotland]

Scottish Capital is delighted to announce a twenty-five million pounds investment in LOCKUP.

LOCKUP is the latest brand investment from Scottish Capital, delivering 24-hour access, fully automated, drive-up lockups purpose-built for commercial customers.

The investment in LOCKUP has funded the first site opened in Paisley this morning as well as high visibility sites in Cumbernauld, Dundee and Port Glasgow. Further sites will be announced in due course, and the plan is to expand the brand across the UK.

LOCKUP is designed to simplify life for customers. At the heart of the business is an AI-driven, fully automated platform, incorporating online booking, ID verification, keyless access, and AI-enabled CCTV. Sites will offer five simple unit sizes: S, M, L, XL and XXL.

LOCKUP will be run in partnership with Asset Management Partners who are the existing partners with Scottish Capital on the Storage Vault and CoVault portfolios.

Anthony McAteer Group Managing Director at Asset Management Partners said “LOCKUP is an exciting addition to our existing portfolios with all drive up fully automated keyless Lockups, and simple unit sizes that are more customer friendly. We have built a great team over the years that will continue to play a massive part in our success.”

John McGlynn founder of Scottish Capital said: “I was inspired to invest in this new category LOCKUP after a 3-week tour in Australia and visiting the Swift Storage sites opened by my good friend and storage guru Jon Perrins and based on previous conversations with US self-storage legend Jefferson Shreve of Storage Express.”

“Our partnership with Asset Management Partners has been beyond our expectations making Scottish Capital the largest self-storage and workspace owners in Scotland and the time is now right to expand into the rest of the UK. I have every confidence that the team will continue to exceed our expectations and deliver for customers across the UK.”
