Pink Storage Opens First Off-Grid Facility in Washington, England

Pink Storage has opened its first fully off-grid self-storage facility in Washington, England, powered by a combination of solar panels, battery storage and backup generators rather than a national grid connection. The £40,000 renewable-energy system, comprising 12 solar panels and a 72kWh battery, is projected to generate around 1,784 kWh annually and cut carbon emissions by roughly 0.41 tons a year, with an estimated 10-year payback period.

Pink Storage, which operates more than 20 sites across the UK, intends to introduce similar off-grid systems at further locations, including Nottingham, over the next five years. The project points to increasing attention on energy resilience and sustainability within the self-storage sector.
