Prior to founding AW, Peterson co-founded AuctionWorks, an online real estate auction platform. Peterson built the auction platform for AuctionWorks utilizing her prior auction expertise and her experience founding and operating a real estate brokerage, PMD Realty, LLC, for over a decade.
In 2001, seeing an opportunity to provide homeowners an alternative disposition strategy, Peterson established PMD Realty. PMD Realty quickly became the leading local provider of flat-fee MLS listing services, dominating the emerging flat-fee market for several years. During that time, Peterson was recognized by the Chicago Association of Realtors as one of the top 5 producing real estate brokers, having closed +$130M in residential sales and negotiated +500,000 SF of commercial lease and sale transactions. Before starting PMD Realty, Peterson worked for U.S. Equities Realty and JLL providing strategic planning, site selection and tenant representation services to office tenants nationwide.

Senior Vice President, Bankruptcy and Restructuring and Managing Director of Business Development has over 18 years of experience and relationships in the restructuring industry. Emily began her career as a real estate attorney working on large commercial transactions at Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath and transitioned into a bankruptcy practice. At DLA Piper, Emily continued her restructuring work, representing debtors, creditors, committees, financial institutions, Trustees and receivers in all aspects of Chapter 11 and Chapter 7 proceedings, workouts and litigation.
For over a decade, Emily worked for a prominent national bankruptcy and class action administration company as a business development executive and as head of Midwest operations where she managed the Chicago office including oversight of cases as well as client management and execution of strategic marketing initiatives. Emily is known for her dedication to exceptional client service and her relationship building. Prior to joining AW Properties, Emily was on the senior leadership team of a major not-for-profit organization in Chicago. Emily holds a Juris Doctor, magna cum laude from Loyola University Chicago School of Law. She graduated with high distinction from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Arts in History.
