Cardiff-based Blue Self Storage has agreed a partnership with removals firm Pickfords to develop self-storage facilities on Pickfords-owned land. The first phase includes a seven-figure investment to build a 26,900 sqft site on an undeveloped Pickfords plot in Aberdeen, with Blue Self Storage overseeing development, operations and management. The arrangement is an example of operator-led partnerships with third-party landowners, a model already common in the US and increasingly seen in the UK. Blue Self Storage currently operates six sites, with two additional locations due to open in summer 2026, bringing its total site count to double what it was a year earlier.
