Birmingham-founded Cookes Furniture has secured a £1m loan facility from Lloyds to fund a new self-storage site in Christchurch, Dorset, due to open in June 2026. The facility will offer more than 100 units initially, with further expansion planned as occupancy grows. It will be Cookes’ third self-storage location, following existing sites in Sutton Coldfield and Stratford-upon-Avon.
The funding will also support mobile-based access-control technology in place of traditional keys, along with remote customer support. Cookes has operated a furniture showroom in Christchurch since 1993 and is marking its 80th year in business.
