The LaGrange-Troup County Chamber of Commerce celebrated the opening of Safe Self Storage on N. Cary Street with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The new business is owned by Chris and Brandy Yarbrough. Chris said the location has been in the family for a long time, and they recently converted it to a self-storage facility.
“My mom and dad actually built this building some 30 years ago and ran it as a daycare for that entire time. We purchased it from them about three years ago and converted it to [self] storage,” Chris said.
Yarbrough said the conversion makes more sense for him and his wife, Brandy, because they are busy with other work.
“We do lots of things. I pastor a church and do corporate HR. She’s a nurse practitioner, and we have rental property, so we have a lot of stuff going on,” Chris said.
Chris had done corporate human resources work for 30 years. He also pastors Liberty Church in LaGrange, located on Willis Circle off of Exit 14, right across from the Hampton Inn.
Chris said when they bought the property, they knew it needed a lot of work to convert it from being a daycare facility to a self-storage business, saying they were told at least two years.
“It’s been ready for a while,” Chris said, explaining that they had so much going on that the opening was delayed for about a year.
Chris said they engaged Tristan Thompson to help them with the marketing, and that kind of helped them push it over the finish line.
The 7,500-square-foot location has 55 units of climate-controlled storage. Chris said eight of them are already rented. Units range from five-by-five to 10-by-15 feet. The entire location is also monitored by video. The building access hours are from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
Month-to-month leases are available at affordable rates in a variety of unit sizes.
