Somerville, New Jersey’s Zoning Board of Adjustment has approved a five-story, 85,740-square-foot self-storage facility at 79 Route 206, with NAN Realty Holdings LLC winning a five-to-two vote after three hearings. Design revisions made during the review process included raising the first floor out of the floodplain, repositioning the gate entry, and adding vegetative buffering along residential edges. Opposition focused on building mass and proximity to the historic Wallace House.
Board members in favor cited the condition of the vacant site and the comparatively low traffic impact of storage use. NAN Realty has pending applications in Bridgewater and Hillsborough.
