A long-standing self-storage facility in Waynesville has gotten the green light to expand after a year-long push.
The Waynesville Planning Board unanimously approved a special use permit at its meeting Monday that allows Richland Creek Storage to add between 75 and 80 units to its location on West Marshall Street near Recreation Park.

Richland Creek Storage’s location near the Mountain Creek Plaza apartment complex and Waynesville Recreation Park gave some town lenders pause when the initial rezoning request came through.
The self-storage facilty sits next to Wayenesville’s recreation park. Now that the land has been rezoned so the facility can expand its square footage, the door is open to wide range if businesses that could move in down the line.
