Smithfield, Virginia’s Planning Commission has unanimously recommended approval of a mid-construction plan revision for a Battery Park Road self-storage project, replacing two planned non-climate-controlled buildings with 41 outdoor parking spaces for RVs, boats, and trailers. Developer Breeden Construction cited a market study pointing to weaker demand for non-climate-controlled units and stronger demand for vehicle storage.
The revision requires a special use permit and Town Council approval before it can proceed.
