Today, more than 23% of StorQuest properties are equipped with solar panels, representing an investment of more than $10 million in solar development and installation. Self-storage facilities have a natural advantage: expansive rooftops ideal for large-scale solar systems that reduce grid dependency and produce clean energy at scale.
Energy efficiency doesn’t stop at solar. Many StorQuest locations use motion-sensor LED lighting, which consumes significantly less electricity than traditional fluorescent fixtures. These systems activate only when needed, cutting unnecessary energy use while keeping our facilities well-lit and operationally efficient.
What Carbon-Neutral Operations Actually Means
Carbon neutrality means achieving a net-zero carbon footprint, where the greenhouse gas emissions a company releases are balanced by an equal amount removed from the atmosphere. At StorQuest, we take a rigorous, transparent approach to getting there: reducing emissions directly through solar and energy efficiency, then offsetting the remainder through third-party verified carbon projects.
Verification matters. Not all carbon offsets are created equal, and we’re committed to investing only in programs that meet recognized quality standards, ensuring our carbon-neutral status reflects genuine environmental impact.
